Holy Child College, Lagos 

We had the pleasure of welcoming the Holy Child College, Lagos, UK Alumnae to Mayfield as part of their 80th anniversary celebration. Thirteen inspiring women travelled to visit the place that holds a special significance in the history of their education and to reconnect with the legacy of Cornelia Connelly, the founder of the Holy Child Schools. 

The day was filled with reverence, reflection, and camaraderie. The alumnae were guided through a tour of the school and a poignant highlight of the visit was paying homage at Cornelia Connelly’s final resting place. The group gathered around her tomb, where they engaged in a meaningful prayer session, expressing gratitude for her visionary leadership and the values she instilled. 

In a heartfelt act of devotion, the women crafted rosary beads, thanks to Ronan, Mayfield’s Lay Chaplin, which they blessed at Cornelia’s tomb, symbolising their continued faith and connection to her spiritual legacy. Together, we recited a decade of the rosary, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. This was a memorable occasion that underscored the importance of heritage, community, and spiritual reflection of the Holy Child Family. We look forward to welcoming them all back to Mayfield soon!
