Mayfield School News |
On Tuesday this week (22nd November) we celebrate the feast of St Cecilia, patron saint of music, which has a special place in the life of Mayfield. The Mayfield School community was treated to a wonderful concert with performances from our talented pupils to mark the occasion; current pupils, parents, staff and Srs. Jean and Maria were in attendance. The girls delivered a varied programme, which included Mozart, Debussy, Berlioz and Bernstein and featured voice, strings, piano, saxophone, clarinet and french horn.
Taking pride of place for the evening in Gresham Hall was this beautiful icon of St Cecilia, which usually adorns our Music School but was moved for this special concert. This was very kindly donated by one of our old girls, in the Class of 1964.
