In June we hosted Mayfield Day, our whole school prize giving and Inter-House Athletics competition. Over 1,000 people joined together in our marquee for our Speech and Prize Giving ceremony. The guest speaker on the day was Francesco Vanni d’Archirafi, Cornelia Connelly's great, great, great grandson, who due to reasons beyond his control was not able to be here on the day, gave a speech via Zoom encouraging the girls to follow their dreams.
Congratulations to all our prize winners, as well as to all those who performed on the day. It was a wonderful occasion, and followed by a delicious barbeque lunch, before the girls took part in track and field events in the afternoon as part of our Inter-House Athletics. Records were broken, a year 8 student broke the Long Jump record, with a 4.2m jump, while another equalled the High Jump record at 1.4m and broke the 100m Sprint with a time of 13.72s. What a bright future these two have in Athletics!
