Celebrating Foundation Day: A Tribute to Talent and Gratitude at Mayfield

Foundation Day at Mayfield has long been a cherished tradition, a day steeped in competition and the celebration of our talented girls. This year was no exception, as the festivities unfolded with a perfect blend of gratitude and joy.

The day commenced with a heartfelt Mass, honouring the foundation of Cornelia Connelly's Society of the Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ). This sacred occasion allowed us to reflect on the remarkable contributions of Cornelia Connelly and the numerous Sisters of the Society who have devoted themselves to our school community selflessly over the years. Their legacy continues to inspire and uplift us.

As we gathered in prayer, we also took a moment to remember Miss Antonia Beary, as we approached the one-year anniversary of her passing. Our prayers were offered for the repose of her soul, and we reflected on her immense impact on our school, our community, and the lives of many individuals. Her dedication and kindness left an indelible mark on us all, and we hope that she rests in peace.

The celebrations continued with an unforgettable array of activities. After Mass, the spirit of friendly competition filled the air with exhilarating Inter-House contests in music, hockey, debating, and a stimulating general knowledge quiz. Each event showcased the exceptional talent and enthusiasm of our Mayfield girls, who approached every challenge with determination and camaraderie.

To conclude the day on a vibrant note, we organised a lively colour run that brought joy and laughter to our community. The sight of our students, friends, and staff united in fun and spirit was a heartwarming reminder of the bonds that tie us together.

Foundation Day is not only a celebration of our past and present; it is also a testament to the values that guide us as a community. We are grateful for our heritage, for those who came before us, and for the bright future ahead. Here’s to another successful year of Mayfield girls shining in their unique ways!
