The 175th Anniversary celebrations began with a special Mass in the Chapel which was followed by a series of Inter-House activities. As always, Inter-House Music was a fun and highly competitive experience with the girls competing in a number of different categories. After a series of wonderful performances by our talented musicians, there could only be one winner and on this occasion it was Curie.
The Inter-House General Knowledge Quiz involved year group teams competing against each other to answer the most correct questions with Curie winning in Year 7, Bronte winning in Years 8 and 9, Astor winning in Year 10, and Bronte winning in Year 11.
Lower School, Middle School and Sixth Form hockey players took part in the greatly anticipated and hotly contested Inter-House Hockey matches in which each House played three matches. The overall winners were Glennie who came in first place with 65 points, followed by Astor with 41 points, Bronte with 34 and, last but not least, Curie with 20.
We also planted a beautiful cherry tree, gifted to the School by Sister Jean and Sister Maria of the SHCJ, to commemorate the anniversary. Trees traditionally symbolise communities and have a lifespan that encompasses many generations, and our cherry tree will be a reminder of the 175th Anniversary celebrations and enjoyed by generations of Mayfield girls to come.
