An Easter Message from Di Clarke

28 Mar 2024
OC News

Easter approaches and this usually gives us not just brighter, lighter days, but for most, precious extra time to spend with our extended family and friends.

The lighter days are heralded by natures awakening, from the cold winter and into Spring. Trees and flowers are showing renewed growth and brightness for us to enjoy, all of which is most evident around us at Mayfield. Daffodils and crocus are abundant with refreshing colour in our lawns and the trees, a variety of greens.

At Easter we remember especially the sacrifice made by Jesus, the pain and suffering he took for us to live the lives we are living.

The suffering of Jesus on the cross teaches us to put others before ourselves and a deep appreciation of the sacrifices made for our benefit. Most often this is done by strangers, and we will never be able to personally thank them for enabling us to live the lives we are.

Give us the strength to pass this forward with joy in our hearts. Let us be led with hope and happiness to a brighter future where love abounds for all the beautiful creation you have made us.

There are, of course, those of us suffering through illness, bereavement and a general feeling of helplessness and we hold you in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

Your creation, our planet is riven with conflicts and disputes where the instruction of ‘treat others as you wish to be treated’ seems to be completely forgotten and so a deepfelt wish for all to find peace and love throughout the world is upper most in our hearts as we celebrate Easter in our own ways and traditions.

Amen
