We gathered to commemorate the first anniversary of the passing of our beloved former headmistress and cherished friend, Antonia Beary on Friday 25th October 2024.
Antonia Beary was not just an educator; she was a beacon of inspiration for countless students and staff alike. Her dedication to empowering young minds, fostering a sense of curiosity, and nurturing a love for learning set her apart as a headmistress who genuinely cared for everyone. Throughout her tenure, she ignited a passion for education that resonated with everyone who crossed her path.
Today we laid a wreath with colours symbolising the joy and light she brought into our lives. As we placed the wreath on her grave, prayers were offered for the repose of her soul, each word resonating with the shared love and respect we held for her. We remembered her ability to connect with students on a personal level, and her passion for fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment. Antonia believed in the potential of every girl; and encouraged them to strive for greatness while being true to themselves.
It is clear that today is not only about mourning our loss but also about celebrating Antonia's extraordinary life. We commit ourselves to keeping her memory alive—by embodying her values, by inspiring others as she did, and by always remembering the importance of kindness and integrity in our interactions with one another.
The first anniversary of Antonia's death reminds us that her legacy will not fade; instead, it will continue to inspire future generations.
We honoured a great leader and friend and as we return to our lives, we carry her memory in our hearts.
Rest in peace Antonia, we miss you.
