An annual ladies golf competition for alumnae of independent schools.I am delighted to report some good news from the Silver Tassie at The Berkshire this year - Susan Eccles (née Craib), class of 1968 (from Royal Ashdown & Rye) and I won the pairs’ competition on the Blue Course with a score of 44 Stableford points (off 85% of Course h/c). Our playing dovetailed well, so when I was out of a hole, Susan was great, and vice versa! In addition, Susan won lots of balls with her score of 2 on the Par 3 13th, what a great putt! We had such a lovely day, conditions could not have been more perfect at one of the best courses in England. We had a super lunch and all-round happy atmosphere. We started with some warmups with one of the players from Roedean we were paired with - she had a Japanese routine on her phone! Our other players were Moira Hoath, class of 1967 (from Hayling Island GC) and Viv Ramage (née Briant), class of 1970 (from Burhill GC), they played the Red Course - overall with all our Stableford points added up, we came overall joint 8th or so (see results sheet below). The winners had 81 points; we got 78...so great effort from all the team. Susan got a fab hole in 2, so she won 6 new balls, and we both won a prize for our pair’s comp, so happy day indeed! Thank you to all the team, well played indeed - especially with very early starts on the tee at 8.20am! Thank you too to Narelle for providing the Mayfield caps once again. We hope we can return to The Berkshire next year for more fun and games
